The Animal Foundation seeks community assistance in addressing critical space shortage

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas is facing a critical space crisis, with 522 dogs currently on campus and more arriving every day. Animal Protection Officers are bringing in 12 more dogs, but there are no kennels available to house them. The shelter is in urgent need of help from the community to address this crisis.

To help alleviate the overcrowding at the shelter, The Animal Foundation is hosting a fee-waived adoption event on Wednesday, July 17, starting at 11 a.m. Those interested in adopting a furry friend or fostering a dog can attend this event without needing an appointment. Fostering a dog for two to four weeks can help them decompress away from the shelter environment, and everything needed for fostering is provided free of charge.

In addition to adopting or fostering a dog, there are other ways that individuals can help The Animal Foundation during this critical time. If you come across a healthy and friendly dog, try to find their owner before bringing them to the shelter. Many lost dogs have homes nearby and families waiting for their return. In the last two weeks alone, the shelter has taken in 1,288 animals, with 66% of them being strays.

The Animal Foundation also has an urgent need wish list on Amazon, where individuals can donate items such as crates, collars, leashes, and linens to help care for the animals at the shelter. Additionally, if you have lost a pet, you can reclaim them at the shelter with the assistance of shelter staff.

For more information on how you can help The Animal Foundation and support their efforts to care for the dogs in their care, visit their website at animalfoundation.com. Your support and contributions can make a significant difference in the lives of these animals and help alleviate the space crisis at the shelter. Let’s come together as a community to ensure that every dog has a loving home and the care they deserve.
