He also points out that not every horse works every day, as the company owns about 40 horses but only requires up to 18 on a busy day, allowing each horse an average of 16 weeks off per year.
During the summer months, the horses are provided with electrolytes and vitamin E, misted with fans, and have their temperatures checked regularly. Doyle stresses the importance of monitoring each horse individually, as they react differently to heat and exertion.
