Temanggung, a regency located in Central Java, Indonesia, recently hosted a Computer Assisted Test (CAT) Potensi for civil servants in collaboration with the Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia (BKPSDM) and the Unit Penilaian Kompetensi (Upenkom) BKD of Central Java Province. The event took place from July 9 to 11, 2024, at SMK Negeri 1 Temanggung, attracting a total of 615 participants including administrators, supervisors, functional officials, and staff members.

The primary objective of conducting the CAT was to assess the potential of civil servants in Temanggung regency. Sutrisno, the Secretary of BKPSDM, emphasized the importance of this assessment in talent acquisition and management. He stated, „The CAT is aimed at mapping the potential of civil servants in Temanggung regency to facilitate talent management processes. The results obtained from this assessment will be utilized to identify the talent quadrant of the respective employees.“

Furthermore, Sutrisno highlighted the significance of utilizing the data obtained from the CAT for career development, competency enhancement, and capacity building of civil servants. He emphasized that the information gathered would play a crucial role in implementing a merit-based system within the organization.

Ahmad Arif, the Sub-Coordinator of Planning and Evaluation at BKD Central Java Province, explained that the results of the CAT would be shared with BKPSDM Temanggung for further action. He mentioned, „As the data provider, it is our responsibility to hand over the results to BKPSDM Temanggung. They can utilize this information for placing potential candidates in suitable positions, providing training recommendations, and enhancing the overall development of the employees.“

The collaboration between BKPSDM Temanggung and Upenkom BKD Central Java Province in organizing the CAT Potensi reflects a proactive approach towards talent management and human resource development. By conducting such assessments, the authorities aim to identify and nurture the potential of civil servants, ultimately contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of public service delivery in Temanggung regency.
