City of Albuquerque partners with Metro for nationwide „Clear the Shelters“ adoption event

The Animal Welfare Department (AWD) in Albuquerque is teaming up with NBCUniversal for a special National Adoption event taking place from Saturday, August 10 through Tuesday, September 10. This event will be held at the Eastside and Westside shelters, as well as Lucky Paws located in Coronado Mall. The collaboration with NBCUniversal is a fantastic opportunity to promote pet adoption and find loving homes for animals in need.

Carolyn Ortega, the Director of the Animal Welfare Department, expressed gratitude for the support from NBCUniversal, Telemundo, and Hill’s Pet Nutrition. She emphasized the importance of adopting shelter pets, not only to provide them with a home but also to create space in the shelters for other pets in need. By participating in this adoption event, individuals can make a significant impact on the lives of these animals.

During the event, people will have the opportunity to meet the pets and speak with adoption counselors to find the perfect match for their family. The adoption fee is waived for all pets, and each adoption includes spaying or neutering, a microchip, required vaccinations, and a free initial vet visit. Additionally, dog adoptions come with a free dog training class, and every adoption includes a gift bag from Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

Mayor Tim Keller highlighted the importance of addressing overcrowding in shelters and emphasized the positive impact that adopting a pet can have on their lives. This event provides an ideal opportunity for individuals to welcome a furry friend into their homes and provide them with love and care.

This partnership with NBCUniversal is part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, which aims to promote pet adoption and raise funds for animal welfare. Since its inception in 2015, Clear the Shelters has helped over one million pets find new homes. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to animal welfare and the importance of finding forever homes for pets in need.

For those interested in adopting a pet, AWD’s available pets can be viewed on their website. This event presents a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals and provide them with a loving home.

In conclusion, the partnership between the Animal Welfare Department and NBCUniversal for the National Adoption event is a significant initiative to promote pet adoption and raise awareness about animal welfare. By participating in this event, individuals can make a positive impact on the lives of shelter pets and provide them with a second chance at a happy and loving home.
