Cooper’s Hawk, Lala’s Ice Cream and Paleta Shop, and Levin Tire Center Grand Opening; Pet Haven and Hardee’s Shutting Down

Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant, a popular wine bar and restaurant chain, is set to open its doors in Schererville, Indiana. The much-anticipated establishment is currently in the process of hiring key positions such as a general manager, restaurant manager, and executive kitchen manager. This new location will be the second in Northwest Indiana and will be situated in the Shops on Main development.

The construction of the $4.5 million, 9,978-square-foot restaurant and wine bar is being handled by Cosgrove Construction of Joliet. Located at the bustling intersection of Indianapolis Boulevard and Main Street, just south of the Highland border, the new Cooper’s Hawk will be a welcome addition to the area. The Shops on Main shopping center already houses popular stores like Whole Foods, Nordstrom Rack, and Carrabba’s Italian Grill, making it a prime location for this upscale casual dining establishment.

Cooper’s Hawk Winery and Restaurant first opened its doors in Orland Park in 2005 and has since expanded to over 50 locations across several states, including Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and more. Known for its award-winning wines, Cooper’s Hawk has garnered accolades such as the 2018 Indy International Wine Competition Double Gold and the 2018 Winemaker Challenge International Wine Competition Silver.

The menu at Cooper’s Hawk offers a wide range of options, including steaks, chops, seafood, pasta, risotto, chicken, salads, burgers, vegetarian entrees, and desserts. Each dish is expertly crafted to pair perfectly with the restaurant’s selection of wines, and servers are trained to offer pairing suggestions to enhance the dining experience.

In addition to its delectable food offerings, Cooper’s Hawk also caters to dietary restrictions with gluten-free options like filet mignon and chicken piccata, as well as vegetarian dishes like sweet corn and tomato risotto and penne with roasted butternut squash. The menu features a variety of entrees, from pistachio-crusted grouper to red wine-braised short ribs, ensuring that there is something for every palate.

Levin Tire & Service Center has recently opened a new location in Crown Point, providing a range of tire and auto services to the community.

Unfortunately, not all news is positive, as Pet Haven Pet Shop in Valparaiso is closing its doors after nearly 50 years of serving the community. The beloved pet store, founded in 1976, has been a staple in the area, offering a wide selection of pets, supplies, and grooming services. While it is sad to see this chapter come to a close, the owners are grateful for the support of their loyal customers over the years.
