English Springer Spaniel Shows Off New Trick That Makes Him Look Like a Fish

Can you believe there are dogs that don’t like the water? Not with Dayzer around. The English Springer Spaniel doesn’t just like the water — he loves it. And he couldn’t wait to show everyone online the cool new trick he learned at the pool.

Dayzer isn’t like the other dogs. If he could spend the whole day in the pool, he would.

And really, is there anything better than hanging by the pool on a hot day? The English Springer Spaniel couldn’t get enough of the water. He learned how to fetch a toy and dive for it underwater too.

In the footage his owner shared, the dog waited patiently until his owner slipped the toy under the surface of the pool. As quick as you could blink, Dayzer dipped his head under the water and grabbed the toy out of his owner’s hand.

„Dayzer wants to show you guys how he goes underwater,“ his owner wrote in the text overlay. „He loves playing mermaids,“ they joked in the caption. Come to think of it, this sort of does remind us of a mermaid.

Dayzer has a loyal group of fans now. They were so impressed by his special skills. „And no goggles..he is a PRO,“ gushed one commenter. „The head dunk, omg I’d die for him,“ another person praised. „I’ll be the green mermaid if he wants to be the blue one,“ joked one commenter. While someone else shared that this happened with their dog too. „My first dog was a Springer. She was a mermaid too,“ they wrote.

English Springer Spaniels Love Water

Like we said, there are certain dogs that would fight you tooth and nail rather than go for a swim. But English Springer Spaniels are not those kind of dogs. Nope. The breed is actually known for loving the water and they’re incredibly athletic too.

Springer Spaniels need at least two hours of exercise each day. And while you can certainly get their energy out through walks or hiking, swimming is easy on their joints and can keep them fit. These dogs also need a lot of mental stimulation, so playing games with them in the pool or teaching them tricks like this one is a good way to make them use their brains. They also get bored easily, so be prepared to spend most of the day splashing around.

Despite needing a lot of activity, Springer Spaniels are truly the best pets. And they make some pretty great companions during the summer too.
