Fish Eating Campaign Conducted at SDN Sunter Agung 09

The North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency recently organized an „eat fish“ campaign at SDN Suter Agung 09 in Sunter Agung Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district. The campaign aimed to promote local fishery products and marine resources while educating 150 students about the benefits of consuming fish rich in Omega 3.

Unang Rustanto, the Head of North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency, emphasized the importance of educating the public, especially children, about the nutritional content of fish. He highlighted the significance of consuming fish for its Omega 3 content and its role in promoting overall health.

During the campaign, students were provided with a package of processed fish, including Fish Katsu and Yellow Seasoned Tilapia. Additionally, there was a singing activity to encourage children to incorporate fish into their diet to enhance their cognitive abilities, overall health, and physical strength.

The goal of the campaign was to increase children’s interest in consuming fish, thereby supporting the national strategy to reduce stunting. By introducing children to a variety of fish products and emphasizing their nutritional value, the campaign aimed to create a positive impact on the community’s dietary habits.

Riyadi Akbar, the Maritime and Fishery Section Head of North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency, mentioned that similar campaigns would be conducted at five other schools in North Jakarta. He emphasized the role of parents in encouraging their children to consume fish and play an active part in promoting a healthy diet.

One of the students, Said, expressed his fondness for processed fish food, citing its nutritional benefits and delicious taste. He particularly enjoyed fried catfish, showcasing how introducing children to different fish products can help cultivate a preference for healthy eating habits.

Overall, the „eat fish“ campaign organized by the North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency successfully promoted the consumption of local fishery products and marine resources among students. By educating children about the benefits of fish consumption and providing them with tasty and nutritious fish products, the campaign aimed to instill a lifelong appreciation for healthy eating habits and support the community’s overall well-being.
