Genesee County Animal Control shuts down because of distemper and parvo outbreak

Genesee County Animal Control in Michigan is currently facing a challenging situation as they have announced an emergency temporary closure due to an outbreak of distemper and parvovirus in dogs within the facility. Additionally, the shelter is also dealing with cases of kennel cough among some of the strays brought in for care.

Despite animals receiving intake shots upon arrival at the shelter, these vaccinations do not always provide full protection against contagious diseases like distemper and parvovirus.
