Residents in Chickasaw, Alabama, are living in fear as a pack of dogs has been terrorizing and killing cats in the area. One resident, Tina Haygood, recently experienced a horrifying incident involving her therapy cat, Tigger. After 10 years of companionship, Tigger was tragically killed by a group of dogs that entered her home through a back door that was left open.
Haygood recounted the traumatic event, stating that she was sweeping her kitchen when she noticed Tigger acting strangely. Before she could react, a Pit Bull burst into her home and attacked her beloved cat. This was just the beginning of the nightmare for Haygood, as she later discovered Tigger’s lifeless body when her daughter went to check on the cats while she was in the hospital.
The loss of Tigger has deeply affected Haygood emotionally, as she described him as her baby. She shared that she now struggles with nightmares and insomnia, haunted by the image of her cat being mauled by dogs. Unfortunately, Haygood is not the only resident to suffer such a loss, as reports of similar attacks on cats have surfaced in the community.
The Chickasaw Police Department is aware of the situation and is actively working to address the issue. Interim Chief Tommy McDuffie assured residents that they are taking action to locate and apprehend the dogs responsible for these attacks. He emphasized that pet owners whose dogs are found to be involved in such incidents will be held accountable for their pets‘ actions.
In response to the attacks, Haygood has taken measures to secure her home, ensuring that the door through which the dogs entered has been fixed. She urges other residents to be vigilant and report any sightings of the aggressive dogs to the Chickasaw Police Department immediately.
The community is rallying together to raise awareness about the dangers posed by these roaming dogs and to prevent further tragedies. A Facebook group, „Voices of Chickasaw,“ has been instrumental in sharing information and supporting affected residents. The hope is that by working together and reporting sightings of the dogs, they can prevent more innocent animals from falling victim to these attacks.
As the residents of Chickasaw mourn the loss of their beloved pets and grapple with the fear of more attacks, they are united in their determination to protect their community and hold irresponsible pet owners accountable. The message is clear: if you see or know the whereabouts of the dogs responsible for these attacks, do not hesitate to contact the Chickasaw Police Department at (251)380-8334. Together, they can ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and their beloved pets in the community.
