I became pregnant in college, now my partner, baby, and I live in my mom’s annexe paying rent – our entire life fits in that room

Bethany, a young woman from the UK, recently shared a room tour of the annexe she lives in after falling pregnant at university. In the video, she revealed that she moved into her mum’s annexe with her partner and baby to be close to her family while they sorted out their own housing situation. The tiny room is shared by Bethany, her boyfriend, and their son, making for a cozy but functional living space.

As Bethany took viewers on a tour of her room, she showcased how they have made the most of the limited space. The room includes a fridge and freezer, which they purchased themselves since they are not allowed to store food in her mum’s kitchen. The room also features an Ikea Kallax unit for storing cupboard essentials and clothing, making it a multi-functional space for their daily needs.

Despite the cramped quarters, Bethany mentioned that they would be moving soon to their own house, which explained why the room looked tidier than usual due to packing. In the middle of the room, there is a double bed, and to the left, her son’s cot is placed. The changing mat is cleverly stored under the cot to save space and easily accessible when needed. On the opposite side of the cot, a trolley filled with baby essentials like nappies, creams, and cleaning supplies is neatly organized.

Opposite the double bed, a set of drawers holds the family’s clothes, with their pet fish perched on top. Bethany explained that all their clothes are stored in those two drawers, showcasing their efficient use of space. The video of her room tour went viral on TikTok, garnering over 699k views and 26k likes, with many viewers expressing curiosity and admiration for how they have managed their living situation.

In the comments section, viewers were intrigued by the arrangement and asked for more details. Some questioned the rule of not storing food in the kitchen, to which Bethany explained it was her mum’s house rule. Despite the challenges of living in a small space, many praised Bethany’s mum for providing them with a place to stay and maintaining a clean and tidy environment.

Teen pregnancies in the UK have been decreasing significantly since 2007, with the under-18 conception rate dropping by 68% in England and Wales. Bethany’s story sheds light on the realities faced by young parents and the support they receive from their families. As they prepare to move into their own home, the journey ahead holds new opportunities and challenges for their growing family.
