Kebun Binatang Mini di Blitar Menyedihkan

Blitar is a city located in East Java, Indonesia, known for its rich history and cultural heritage. One of the attractions in Blitar is a mini zoo located in the Sentul Village, Kepanjen Kidul District. However, the current condition of the mini zoo is concerning, as reported by Soleh, one of the zoo’s managers. He admitted that the number of animals in the zoo is decreasing due to cases of death.

The mini zoo heavily relies on ticket sales, priced at Rp2,500 per person, to cover the costs of feeding and caring for the animals. On weekends and holidays, the zoo can attract up to 500 visitors per day, but on regular days, the number drops to less than 50. With only two managers, Soleh and Pak Jukri, running the zoo, the situation is challenging.

Despite the current dire situation, Soleh remains optimistic that the mini zoo will improve soon. The Blitar City Government has approved a budget for the rehabilitation of the zoo, which was proposed by the managers. Soleh mentioned that the funds are expected to be disbursed soon, bringing hope for a better future for the zoo.

When asked about the mini zoo, the Head of Public Relations of Blitar City, Maryoto, expressed that he was not aware of the status or the financial assistance that the city government plans to provide. He mentioned that he would coordinate with the relevant departments to gather more information on the matter.

Previously, Animals Indonesia, an organization dedicated to wildlife conservation in Indonesia, demanded the closure of the mini zoo. In a press release titled „Close the Animal Hell in Blitar,“ Animals Indonesia addressed the East Java Natural Resources Conservation Center and the Directorate General of Forest Protection and Nature Conservation in Jakarta.

Elizabeth Laksmi, a campaigner for Animals Indonesia, stated that the mini zoo is illegal as it does not have the necessary permits as a Conservation Ex Situ Institution. The organization is urging authorities to take action to protect the welfare of the animals in the zoo.
