Kelantan welcomes the return of mini zoo after 13 years | New Straits Times

After 13 years, Kelantan has finally reopened its mini zoo near Taman Tasik Krai, marking a significant milestone for the state. The RM2.5 million zoo boasts a variety of animals, including birds, reptiles, a horse, and even a camel. Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob officiated the opening ceremony, expressing his gratitude to the donors who made the project possible.

The zoo is not only a recreational spot for residents but also a new tourist attraction for Kelantan. With over 50 types of animals, it promises to be an exciting destination for families and children. Ahmad Yakob emphasized the importance of safety and cleanliness, urging parents to be vigilant while visiting the zoo.

Joining the Menteri Besar at the opening ceremony were Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, state Community Unity, Culture, Heritage, and Tourism committee chairman Major (Rtd) Datuk Md Anizam Ab Rahman, and Kuala Krai district officer Tengku Ab Rahman Tuan Yunus. Kelantan’s journey to reopening the zoo has been a tumultuous one. The first zoo was established in 2005 at the same location but was closed just four years later. It was then transformed into a bird park, which also faced challenges and was eventually shut down due to poor maintenance.
