Man from Beltrami County Faces Charges for Shooting and Fatally Wounding Neighbor’s Dog

In a shocking and disturbing case out of Hines, Minnesota, a 26-year-old man named Brandon Mutchler has been charged with two felonies in connection with the death of his neighbor’s dog. The charges, overwork/mistreat animals-torture and mistreat animals-cruelty, stem from an incident in August of 2023 where Mutchler allegedly shot a German Shepherd in its kennel.

According to court documents, Mutchler denied shooting the dog when questioned by investigators. However, a search warrant revealed incriminating evidence in the form of his Google search history. Searches such as „mn laws on killing someone’s dog“ and „how far do police look into pet murders“ raised red flags for authorities. Additionally, Mutchler had reportedly made other searches related to dogs being shot in Hines, Minnesota, further implicating him in the crime.

In addition to the felony charges, Mutchler is also facing three gross misdemeanors and nine misdemeanors for wildlife infractions. These charges include gross overlimits of wild animals, transporting illegal big game, failure to register big game, deer over limit, and illegally taking, buying, selling, transporting, or possessing protected wild animals. The extent of Mutchler’s alleged crimes is truly alarming and paints a troubling picture of his disregard for both domestic and wild animals.

The community of Hines has been left reeling from this tragic incident, with many residents expressing shock and outrage at the senseless killing of the innocent German Shepherd. Pets are beloved members of many families, and the idea that someone would intentionally harm or kill a defenseless animal is deeply disturbing to all who hear about it.

As the legal proceedings unfold, many are hopeful that justice will be served for the slain dog and that Mutchler will be held accountable for his actions. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of treating animals with kindness and respect, and the severe consequences that can result from acts of cruelty towards them.

In conclusion, the charges against Brandon Mutchler in connection with the shooting of his neighbor’s dog are a sobering reminder of the need to protect and advocate for animals in our communities. It is essential that those who commit acts of cruelty towards animals are held accountable for their actions, and that justice is served for the innocent victims. The tragic death of the German Shepherd in Hines serves as a call to action for all of us to stand up against animal cruelty and ensure that our furry friends are safe and protected.
