Owner Searches for Cat for 45 Minutes, Shocked by Hiding Spot

Diamond Dobson shared on TikTok (@d.dobsx3) how she had been searching for her cat Zucchini for 45 minutes without success. It was only when she gave social media users a closer look at the bottled water packaging on the floor that Zucchini’s hiding spot was finally revealed.

Dobson believes Zucchini was in the plastic packaging for around an hour in total, watching her look for him the whole time. When she eventually found him, he remained completely still, perhaps thinking he was still incognito. „I had just finished hosting a party and was cleaning up when I noticed my cat wasn’t by my side,“ Dobson said. „He usually follows me everywhere or sits and watches whatever I’m doing. When I was calling him, he wasn’t coming to me like he usually does. After looking for him, I just waited for him to make a sound. After a while, I heard some plastic rustling, and then saw two little eyes looking at me.“

Zucchini’s love for hiding in small places is not out of the ordinary, as he often enjoys teasing his owner and scaring his cat sister, Fox. However, this particular hiding spot proved to be one of his toughest challenges yet. Cats are known to gravitate towards dark or hidden spots around the house for various reasons, such as seeking a quiet place to sleep or a safe space. This behavior is instinctive, as cats‘ ancestors once sought secluded spaces from predators.

Typical hiding spots for cats include cardboard boxes for security and insulation, under the bed for coziness and comfort, and inside a closet for added security, especially when feeling nervous or anxious.
