Pet Health and Rabies Vaccination Clinics

Rabies is a serious and potentially deadly virus that can affect both animals and humans. In order to prevent the spread of this disease, it is important to ensure that your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations. To help pet owners in the Erie County area, there will be upcoming free rabies vaccination clinics for cats, ferrets, and dogs.

The first clinic will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Erie County Training and Operations Center located at 3359 Broadway in Cheektowaga, NY. The second clinic will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at ECC South – Building 7, 4041 Southwestern Blvd in Orchard Park, NY. Registration is required for both clinics, and up to three pets will be accepted per appointment. If you need assistance with registering, you can call 716-961-6800.

It is important to note that dogs, cats, and ferrets aged 3 months and older are eligible for these clinics. Make sure to bring your pets in a carrier or on a collar with a short leash, and do not use retractable or extended leashes. It is also recommended to put contact information on your pet’s collar and carrier, and consider having your pet microchipped. Additionally, bring proof of your pet’s previous vaccination in order to receive a three-year vaccination certificate; otherwise, a one-year certificate will be given.

If you have any questions about vaccination information or pet care, it is advised to contact your veterinarian. The clinics are made possible thanks to the partnership with the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society, SPCA Serving Erie County, and Erie County Medical Reserve Corps (ECMRC).

For those in need of assistance with pet care, additional information, or resources, you can reach out to the Division of Environmental Health at the ECDOH Building, 503 Kensington Avenue in Buffalo, NY. You can also contact them by phone at 716-961-6800, or in case of emergencies after regular business hours, at 716-961-7898. Fax inquiries can be sent to 716-961-6880.

By taking advantage of these free rabies vaccination clinics, pet owners can help protect their furry friends from this dangerous virus and contribute to the overall health and safety of the community. Don’t miss this opportunity to ensure that your pets are properly vaccinated and protected.
