Mount Blue Sky, located in Colorado, is a picturesque mountain known for its stunning views and diverse wildlife. Recently, a local wildlife photographer, Michael Ryno, had a unique encounter with a herd of goats at Mount Blue Sky that captured the attention of many. As the President of Professional Photographers of Colorado, Michael was on a trip up the mountain when he stumbled upon the playful goats that ended up becoming one of his most memorable experiences while out in nature.
„As I made my way up the mountain, I came across this herd of goats I was photographing, and as I’m photographing them with my camera, I noticed that some of the goats started playing around, hopping up on the car,“ said Michael. The video of the goats climbing on a Subaru parked at Mount Blue Sky quickly went viral, garnering over a million views and sparking a flurry of responses on social media.
One of the notable comments on the video came from Yakima Roof Racks, stating, „Believe it or not we actually test our products for situations like this.“ The owner of the Subaru, Mindy Williford, confirmed that both the car and the car rack were undamaged despite the playful antics of the goats. When asked why he did not intervene to stop the goats, Michael explained his ethical approach to wildlife photography.
In an interview, Michael emphasized the importance of not disturbing wild animals in their natural habitats. He mentioned that the presence of baby animals among the goats heightened the risk of unpredictable behavior, which is why he chose to observe from a distance. Michael’s priority was to allow the goats to enjoy their natural environment without human interference.
Although the video only captured the goats climbing on the Subaru, Michael revealed that there were two baby mountain goats on the other side of the vehicle, which he later photographed while keeping a safe distance from their horns. He emphasized that as a wildlife photographer, it is crucial to respect the animals and their surroundings, even if unexpected interactions occur.
Michael concluded by stating that the encounter with the goats at Mount Blue Sky was one of the most unique experiences he has had in his career. He expressed his awe at witnessing such behavior in the wild and reiterated the importance of preserving the natural habitats of wildlife. The viral video served as a reminder of the beauty and unpredictability of nature, leaving viewers in awe of the playful goats at Mount Blue Sky.
