Protesters loot hens, rabbits, fish, and sarees after storming Sheikh Hasina’s house – Firstpost

The recent unrest in Bangladesh has reached a new level of intensity, with protesters looting and vandalizing the residence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka. The violence, which has claimed over 350 lives since July, has caused widespread destruction and chaos in the country.

Following Sheikh Hasina’s departure from Bangladesh, demonstrators took advantage of the situation and stormed her official residence, Ganabhaban. Reports and images shared on social media show individuals looting various items from the premises, including furniture, livestock, and food items such as rabbits, chickens, and fish.

Some protesters were even seen with pets, like a German Shepherd puppy, and others were photographed enjoying meals like biryani and korma inside the residence. The scenes of looting and feasting inside the Prime Minister’s home have shocked many observers both within Bangladesh and internationally.

In addition to looting, the protesters also vandalized the property. They damaged and removed statues of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founder of Bangladesh, and set fire to Awami League party offices. The violence and destruction have escalated tensions in the country, leading to further unrest and chaos.

Members of the Awami League, the ruling party in Bangladesh, have faced severe attacks from the protesters. The demonstrators accuse the party and its student wing, the Awami Jubo League, of violence against them, further fueling the conflict and animosity between the two sides.

The violence reached a peak on Sunday, with at least 94 fatalities reported, followed by 56 more deaths on Monday. The clashes involved both supporters and opponents of the government, resulting in widespread unrest and chaos throughout the country. The total number of casualties since the protests began in July has now surpassed 356, according to official sources and hospital reports.

As the situation continues to deteriorate, the military has announced plans to form an interim government to address the ongoing crisis. The departure of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after 15 years in power has left a power vacuum that has only added to the instability and uncertainty in Bangladesh.

The events unfolding in Bangladesh serve as a stark reminder of the fragility of democracy and the potential for violence and chaos when political tensions escalate. The future of the country remains uncertain as the people grapple with the aftermath of the recent unrest and the challenges of rebuilding and moving forward.
