Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Expresses Sadness and Disappointment Over Catch and Kill Method Used for Stray Dogs – BERNAMA

Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, has expressed her sadness and disappointment over the catch and kill method used for stray dogs in Selangor. This controversial method has sparked outrage among animal rights activists and concerned citizens who believe that there are more humane ways to address the issue of stray animals.

The catch and kill method involves capturing stray dogs and euthanizing them as a way to control the population of strays. While this method may seem like a quick fix to the problem, it is not a sustainable solution and does not address the root causes of stray animal overpopulation.

Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin’s statement reflects a growing awareness and concern for animal welfare in Malaysia. She emphasized the need for a more compassionate and effective approach to managing stray animals, one that focuses on sterilization, vaccination, and responsible pet ownership.

One of the key issues with the catch and kill method is that it does not address the underlying reasons why there are so many stray animals in the first place. Lack of access to affordable spaying and neutering services, irresponsible pet ownership, and abandonment are some of the factors that contribute to the stray animal population.

Instead of resorting to euthanasia as a solution, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin advocates for a more holistic and sustainable approach to managing stray animals. This includes implementing trap-neuter-release programs, promoting responsible pet ownership through education and awareness campaigns, and working with local communities to address the root causes of stray animal overpopulation.

By addressing the root causes of the stray animal problem, communities can create a more humane and effective solution that benefits both animals and humans. Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin’s call for a more compassionate approach to managing stray animals is a step in the right direction towards creating a more caring and responsible society for all beings.
