Thousands of Cat Lovers Celebrate World Cat Day

Cat lovers in Jakarta celebrated World Cat Day, which falls on August 18th, with great enthusiasm and joy. The Me-O Cat Fun Day event was held at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan, Jakarta on Sunday, August 18, 2024. The venue was filled with a sea of yellow as thousands of cat lovers gathered to participate in various activities organized by Me-O.

Feny Sibuea, the Brand Manager of Me-O Indonesia, expressed her excitement about celebrating both World Cat Day and Indonesia’s Independence Day, which was celebrated on August 17th. The event also marked the introduction of Me-O’s new flavor variants, Nusantara Flavors, which include milkfish and snakehead fish flavors.

Me-O has been a pioneer in providing local flavor options for cat food. Following the success of flavors like otak-otak, skipjack tuna, and pempek, Me-O introduced two new flavors – milkfish and snakehead fish. Feny explained that the decision to introduce these new flavors was based on feedback from polls conducted with Me-O’s community and Instagram followers.

Apart from cat lovers, the World Cat Day celebration also involved various sports communities participating in activities like zumba, fun walk, cycling, roller skating, and more. The aim was to encourage a love for cats among the participants, even if they don’t have cats as pets, by promoting the idea of feeding stray cats.

The event, which took place from 5:30 am to 9:00 am, featured traditional Indonesian games with a cat-themed twist, such as a cracker-eating contest for cat owners, a marble race while carrying a cat, and other fun competitions. One of the highlights was the Me-O creamy treats eating contest for cats, where feline participants raced to finish a sachet of Me-O creamy treats with the help of their owners.

The introduction of the new flavor variants was met with great enthusiasm from cat lovers. The milkfish flavor was designed for adult cats, while the snakehead fish flavor was tailored for kittens. The snakehead fish flavor, in particular, is softer in texture and contains higher protein content with added milk, making it easier for kittens to chew and digest.

Feny Sibuea expressed her hope that the event would leave a positive impression on both cat owners and animal lovers in attendance. The focus on providing natural fish-based flavors for cats reflects Me-O’s commitment to offering high-quality and nutritious options for feline companions.
