Traveling with Dogs in a Truck – Dogster

Meet Allison and her three mixed-breed dogs from Thailand: Jelly, Lorraina, and Manic. In this article, we will delve into the preparations and considerations that go into taking these furry companions on a car ride. While it may not be as complex as preparing young children for a trip, getting the dogs ready for a car ride still requires careful planning.

Setting up the truck is the first step in ensuring a smooth journey. Allison always makes sure to put the dog hammock in place before loading the trio into the truck. This hammock provides a sturdy platform for Manic and Jelly to move around without slipping to the floor. Lorraina, being the smallest of the three, gets to sit up front in a cozy doggy seat covered in fleece. Each dog is equipped with a harness and a doggy „seat belt“ for safety. Additionally, the windows are marked with tape to regulate how much they can be rolled down, especially for Manic who loves sticking his head out to feel the wind in his fur.

Once the setup in the truck is complete, the next step is to ensure all the necessary supplies are on board. Collapsible water dishes, extra water, poop bags, spare leashes, a towel, a first aid kit, and treats are among the essentials that Allison makes sure to have on hand. Being prepared for any situation, whether it’s muddy paws or a broken leash, is crucial even for short drives to the park.

Securing the dogs in the car can be a bit of a challenge, especially with the excitement levels of Manic and the preferences of Jelly and Lorraina. Manic is the first to be loaded into the car, followed by Jelly who needs to be lifted in due to her senior age. Lorraina, who dislikes being picked up, requires a gentle hoist into her designated seat in the front. Once all the dogs are safely secured, including Lorraina in her harness, the journey can begin.

But wait, there’s one more thing to remember before hitting the road – the windows! Manic’s whining and pacing serve as a reminder that he needs to feel the wind in his fur, while Jelly and even the observant Lorraina enjoy sticking their heads out for a brief moment. Once the windows are rolled down to allow for some doggy enjoyment, the journey officially commences.

In conclusion, taking Allison’s three dogs on a car ride involves careful planning and preparation. From setting up the truck with a dog hammock and designated seats to ensuring all the necessary supplies are on board, every detail is crucial for a successful trip. Securing the dogs in the car and remembering to let them enjoy the breeze through the windows are the final steps before embarking on a journey with these beloved furry companions. Allison, Jelly, Lorraina, and Manic are ready for their next adventure, and with the right preparations, the car ride is sure to be a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.
