Valley-born Filmmaker Focuses on America’s Wild Horses

Steven Latham, an Emmy award-winning director, has a unique connection to both Hollywood and free-roaming horses. Born in Springfield, Latham’s passion for horses dates back to his childhood when he helped care for a pony in Hadley during his elementary school years. This early experience laid the foundation for his lifelong love of horses and eventually led him to create a documentary on these majestic animals.

Latham’s fascination with horses deepened when his family adopted a Chincoteague pony during a trip to the Virginia coast in the late 1970s. This pony became a cherished part of Latham’s personal history and sparked his interest in exploring the world of horses through filmmaking. Little did he know that this childhood experience would shape his future career and lead him to work with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Today, Latham finds himself at the intersection of two worlds – Hollywood glamour and the untamed beauty of free-roaming horses. His documentary on horses has garnered attention from audiences around the world, showcasing the bond between humans and these magnificent creatures. Through his work, Latham aims to shed light on the importance of preserving wild horse populations and the need for responsible stewardship of these animals.

In a recent interview from his studio in Los Angeles, Latham reflected on his journey from caring for a pony in Hadley to working on a documentary with A-list celebrities. „It’s surreal to think about how my childhood experiences with horses have shaped my career in such a profound way,“ he said. „I feel incredibly grateful to be able to combine my passion for filmmaking with my love for horses and share that with the world.“

As Latham continues to make waves in the entertainment industry, his dedication to raising awareness about the plight of free-roaming horses remains unwavering. Through his documentary work, he hopes to inspire others to appreciate the beauty and grace of these animals and take action to protect their natural habitats. With his unique perspective and storytelling prowess, Steven Latham is making a lasting impact on both Hollywood and the world of free-roaming horses.
