WagWorld: The Ultimate Destination for Dogs with a Resort, Bar, and Event Center

For Akasha Nickolas, her passion for dogs has led her to create a unique and innovative business venture. With a background in vacation sales and real estate, Nickolas has now found her true calling in the world of dogs. Alongside her business partner Cathy Lusk, she has transitioned from owning a dog grooming studio to owning WagWorld, a dog resort that is set to expand into a bar and event center in Fletcher.

WagWorld sets itself apart by focusing on quality over quantity. With a maximum capacity of 20 dogs at a time, the resort welcomes dogs that may not be accepted elsewhere due to behavioral issues. Nickolas and Lusk take the time to work with each dog individually, ensuring that they receive the care and attention they need.

The upcoming addition of a bar and event center to WagWorld adds another dimension to the business. Set to open on September 1st, the bar will feature a designated off-leash area for dogs, allowing them to roam freely while their owners enjoy a drink. The property also includes the dog resort and Nickolas‘ home, creating a comprehensive space for both dogs and their owners to enjoy.

To ensure the safety and well-being of all dogs, WagWorld requires that they be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Membership fees will grant access to the off-leash area, with field managers on hand to supervise the dogs and maintain cleanliness. Special events will also be held, catering to both dogs and their owners.

In addition to providing a unique space for dogs and their owners, Nickolas is committed to giving back to the community. As an LGBTQ+ owned and operated business, WagWorld will host events that support LGBTQ+ organizations and local animal shelters. The bar and event center will also use recycled aluminum to generate funds for humane societies and host adoption events.

Nickolas envisions WagWorld as a welcoming and inclusive space for all. With plans for live music, food trucks, and special events, she hopes to establish WagWorld as a household name in Western North Carolina. By creating a space where everyone feels safe and comfortable, Nickolas is building more than just a business – she is creating a community centered around a shared love for dogs.

As WagWorld continues to grow and evolve, Nickolas remains dedicated to her vision of providing a haven for dogs and their owners. With a team of passionate employees by her side, she is determined to make WagWorld a place where everyone feels at home. Through her unwavering commitment to her four-legged friends, Nickolas is shaping WagWorld into a destination that embodies the beauty and energy of her love for dogs.
